Vietnam guaranteed their first ever Olympic gold as Vinh Xuan Hoang won the men's 10m air gun title.
Hoang scored 202.5 focuses to defeat home most loved Felipe Wu who recorded 202.1 focuses to secure silver and Brazil's first award of the Games.
Wu led the pack after the penultimate shot yet Hoang denied him with a splendid last exertion.
Throb Wei scored 180.4 to win bronze for China, while South Korea's guarding champion Jin Jongoh came in fifth.
