Ibrahimovic goal sees Manchester United win Community Shield against Leicester

Manchester United guaranteed their first trophy of the Jose Mourinho time as Zlatan Ibrahimovic's late objective secured a 2-1 win over Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield.

Leicester debilitated initially, with Jamie Vardy contorting into the punishment territory, just for Daley Blind to make tracks in an opposite direction from him.

After five minutes, United approached when Anthony Martial cut into the territory from the left and, from a thin edge, shot into the side-mesh.

Wayne Rooney sent a header directly at Kasper Schmeichel from a diverted Luke Shaw cross, yet Leicester were inside a bristle of running in front with 20 minutes played when a Shinji Okazaki header from a corner returned off the bar.

Be that as it may, the leap forward touched base in style soon after the half-hour mark when Jesse Lingard set out on a run, avoided a Wes Morgan challenge and let go home to give the FA Cup champs the lead.

Leicester were back level on 52 minutes when Marouane Fellaini's poor backpass permitted Vardy to circumvent David De Gea before opening home.

Ibrahimovic had the opportunity to reestablish United's lead on 79 minutes when Rooney occupied the ball back to him in the territory, yet he was not able reach the shot and Danny Drinkwater could clear.

At the flip side, a wobbly Ahmed Musa headed over the bar from short proximity from Robert Huth's flick.

On 83 minutes, Ibrahimovic made it 2-1, taking in off within the post from Antonio Valencia's cross.

Leicester struggled back and saw a late punishment offer waved away, yet United left away with triumph.
