Jose Mourinho: Why I subbed off Juan Mata in Man United's Community Shield win



Mata came on after 63 minutes as a replacement for goalscorer Jesse Lingard.
But he didn't make to the end of the game, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan coming on in injury time to replace the midfield ace.
And Mourinho has revealed the reasoning behind his strange substitution.

"The rules allow six changes, I had made five and I wanted to stop the game," he said.
“I need to take off the smallest player because we are expecting a lot of long balls. He is the smallest one”

United held on to record a 2-1 win over last season's Premier League champions.
