Court orders bank to nominate auditors in N50b suit against Jimoh Ibrahim

Equity Abdulazeez Anka of the Government High Court, Lagos, yesterday requested Union Bank of Nigeria to assign a contracted bookkeeper inside seven days with the end goal of completing a legal review of the announcement of records of the N50billion credit the bank supposedly conceded to specialist, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim.

The bookkeeper will work with two other bookkeeping firms assigned by Resource Administration Partnership of Nigeria (AMCON) and Advodate Jimoh Ibrahim.

The judge had on July 11 released an interval request conceded to AMCON to assume control over a few resources having a place with Ibrahim.

Accordingly, the respondents named the firm of Adewale Folowosele and Partner to meet with those that will be selected by AMCON and Union Bank individually.

At the continued knowing about the suit yesterday, direction to AMCON, Yusuf Ali (SAN), educated the court that AMCON has assigned KPMG yet Union Bank was yet to present its selection.

"I review that at the last suspended date, we concurred that gatherings ought to designate sanctioned bookkeepers. I am glad to report that the respondents named the firm of contracted bookkeepers Adewale Folowosele and Partner and AMCON selected KPMG and it is left for Union Bank to designate its sanctioned bookkeeper, particularly as the bank is the essential loan boss.

"We need the court to request that the three firms of contracted bookkeepers concur on a date and time to meet at the Union Bank base camp to do scientific review of the questioned records and report the advancement of what they have done back to the court," he expressed.

Ali asked the court to request Union Bank to name a contracted bookkeeper inside seven days to complete the legal review as concurred by gatherings.

He asked why Union Bank was foot-dragging in designating a sanctioned bookkeeper to do the review, focusing on that the result of the criminological review will frame the premise for genial settlement of the issue.

He said the issue had been the subject of case between Union Bank and the respondents and he would have anticipated that Union Bank would grasp the order to review the record.

In his decision, Equity Anka conceded the application and requested Union Bank to inside seven days introduce its selection. He consequently deferred the matter to September 28 for the report of settlement.
