Enugu CP assures residents of hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration

Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Enugu State Police Commissioner, has assured residents of the state of adequate security during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This is contained in a statement issued in Enugu on Tuesday by the police commissioner.
Ojukwu said that tight and pro-active policing had been put in place for the two-day sallah holiday.
In the goodwill statement, which contained his assurance to the people, he said the Enugu police command had intensified security in strategic places in the state to ensure hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
“We are not only policing for the sallah but for all seasons.
“However, we have mapped out strategies and placed our officers and men on ground to promptly and decisively deal with any security issue during and after the sallah celebration.
“We have also deployed uniformed and plain-clothed police officers and men to secure prayer grounds.

“Nigerians going to Eid prayers during the holiday will be protected no matter how long it lasts.
The statement said the command was in synergy with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders in the endeavour and urged residents to be law-abiding.
Ojukwu congratulated Muslims faithful for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and wished them happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Security had been beefed up at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu as passengers and visitors were searched thoroughly at the entrance of the departure lounge of the airport.
A staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who spoke on a condition of anonymity said that the measure followed security alert of likely terrorists attack during the Sallah holiday.
