Ogah not sponsored by APC – Ubani

A member of the legal team of Mr Samson Uche Ogah, claimant of the governorship seat in Abia State, who was issued certificate of returns by INEC on last week, Barrister Onyeka Monday Ubani, has denied that the efforts by Ogah to prove that there was false declaration in the documentation of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for the primary of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship election was being sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) is far from the truth, as the issue was a pre-election matter, which started when the ruling party was not yet in government.
Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, Ubani also argued that the claim by some lawyers that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should not have issued a certificate of returns to Ogah, because of the appeal filed by Gov. Ikpeazu should have resulted in a stay of action was wrong because filing an appeal does not translate to a stay of execution of the judgment got by Ogah.

He maintained that since there was no contrary order to the judgment got, nothing should stop the swearing in of Ogah by the Chief Judge of the state.
Ubani said that the declaration of public holiday by Ikpeazu and the disappearance of the state Chief Judge are tactics to delay obeying court orders, without a counter order of a stay of execution of an earlier order got.
He however wants the court to note all the delay tactics. He further said it is glaring that Ikpeazu erred on the documentations he filed on his tax payment, which he also admitted to.
Ubani said that the argument that he was not the one who made the mistake is not tenable, since he signed the documents before submitting it to the party.
