Chelsea Football Club have posted a video on their official website to celebrate John Obi Mikel’s 10th anniversary at the club.
Mikel, now 29, joined the club as a 19-year-old from Norway’s Lyn Oslo after a protracted transfer battle with Manchester United in the summer of 2006.
Few days after Mikel turned 18 Chelsea’s rival, Manchester United, announced a deal had been reached to sign the Nigerian from Lyn Oslo, but Chelsea later issued a counter claim suggesting that they already had an agreement with Mikel and his agents.
The issue was resolved on June 2, 2006 with Manchester United agreeing to terminate their option agreement with Mikel when Chelsea agreed to pay them £12 million. Mikel was subsequently granted a work permit on July 19, 2006.

Since then, he has gone on to make over 251 appearances for the first team in the English Premier League winning two Premier League titles in the process.
Despite the constant change in coaches and continued investment in new players, Mikel has survived the turmoil at the bridge.
In his 10 years with Chelsea, he has won all available club trophies, including the Europa League and the prestigious UEFA Champions League, as well as the UEFA Super Cup.
FIFA Club World Cup is the only trophy Mikel has not won with the Blues.
However, there are suggestions he would leave the club soon as he is yet to commit himself to a new deal. His current contract is set to run out in 24 months time.
