Amidst the ongoing leadership tussle rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the center, the Election Committee for the Edo State governorship election, constituted by the Ahmed Makarfi Caretaker Committee has fixed Monday June 20 as the date for primaries.
According to the committee, a pre – primaries congress was conducted in 192 wards, which led to the accreditation of 576 delegates besides special delegates expected to participate at the primaries on Monday.
Chairman of the Edo State Election Committee, Sen Abdul Ningi, expressed confidence that the PDP will conduct free and fair primaries for the three aspirants in the state despite the current challenges the party is facing.
Both the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee and that of Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff sold forms for aspirants contesting in the Edo State governorship election that is expected to hold in September this year.
