Jose Mourinho has been busy being so Jose Mourinho this morning.
He’s been officially unveiled as Man United manager, which saw him wheeled out for the obligatory scarf-waving and shirt-toting on the Old Trafford turf.
But it also necessitated the small matter of his debut press conference.
In which he was deliberately and – depending on your persuasion – quite unnecessarily rude about a number of his peers.
Responding to a question as to whether he’d be under pressure to deliver at Old Trafford, replied : “There are some managers that the last time they won a title was 10 years ago. I won a title a year ago.”
It couldn’t have been any clearer that the message was intended for the Arsenal boss if he’d typed it up in Microsoft Word, printed it out and had it flown by carrier pigeon straight to his door.
And he wasn’t finished there.
Next he had a pop at Roy Hodgson’s irresponsible gamble decision to play Wayne Rooney in midfield.
Mourinho said: “He will be a 9, he will be a 10, a 9 and a half. Not a 6 and not even an 8.”
And we’re pretty sure he wasn’t talking about dress sizes.
So that’s it.
The end of the great Wazza In Midfield experiment.
It was soul-crushingly, morale-sappingly depressing while it lasted.
