Police arrest 2 suspected rapists in Ebonyi

Ebonyi state Police command, on Sunday, arrested two suspected rapists, Abia Monday (13) and Nweke Christian (19) for allegedly drugging and defiling a 13-year-old girl, Chiamaka (surname withheld).
Monday and Nweke accosted the victim at Egu Uhuo village, Ezzagu Community in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state on her way from market and demanded for sex.
They threatened to kill her for refusing their request and immediately dragged her into uncompleted building where they drugged her and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP George Okafor said the suspects will be arraigned after investigation.
He charged parents to monitor the movements of their children and give them proper upbringing to avoid immoral acts.

Meanwhile, a Pastor with the Methodist Church Ukuagba Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state, James Agbo was last weekend remanded at the Abakaliki federal prisons by Magistrate court for defiling a nine-year-old girl (name withheld).
Agbo was said to have accosted the victim on May 2016 on her way from errand for her parents at 3: pm, and requested to bath her and immediately he carried her inside his apartment at the church’s pastor’s quarters and defiled her.
After the charges were read to him, the Presiding Magistrate, Stella Ugwuoke ordered that the accused be remanded in prisons as the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
She adjourned the matter to 9th August, 2016.
